[DISC] running

Understand before you build

The right answer starts with the right questions.

What Discovery Is

Discovery is the bit before the building. We sit down with you, in person in Scarborough or on a call, and work out what is actually going wrong, who it affects, and what a fix would need to do.

Sometimes the answer is a new system. Sometimes it is a change to how an existing one is set up. Occasionally it is “you don’t need us”.

You don’t need a polished brief. A rough description of the problem, and ideally a look at how the work is done today, is enough to start.

What We Look At

Workflows

How the work really moves through a day, including the spreadsheets and sticky notes.

Data

What you hold, where it lives, and which copy is the right one.

Constraints

Budget, deadlines, other suppliers, and the systems that must stay.

Risks

What would hurt if it went wrong, so that part gets the most care.

What You Get at the End

A short, plain-English summary: the problem as we understand it, what we suggest, what it would cost and how long it would take, broken into stages so you can start small. If we think an off-the-shelf tool would do the job better than something bespoke, we say so.

The goal is clarity before commitment.

Who It Suits

Businesses with a process that has outgrown spreadsheets and email, a system nobody quite trusts, or a project that has been talked about for a year and never started. If all you need is a small website, you can skip this and go straight to a £49 brochure website.

Common Questions

Do I need to know what I want?

No. Knowing what annoys you is enough. Working out the rest is our job.

Is discovery a separate charge?

If scoping a bigger project needs paid time, we tell you what it will cost before we start. No pressure, no hard sell.

What happens after discovery?

If you want to go ahead, we build in stages, starting with the part that will make the most difference. Afterwards, support and improvement keeps it working.
