Designed for real-world use

Your customers are on their phones. Your website should work there first.

Two phone screens of the same made-up bakery site. Built for a desktop first: slow to load, tiny text, a photo of a printed menu, fiddly buttons. Built for the phone first: opening hours, a tap-to-call button, a readable menu, a map link.

Why It Matters

For most local businesses, the majority of visitors arrive on a phone: someone in a car park looking up your opening hours, or on the sofa comparing three quotes. If the text is tiny, the buttons are fiddly or the page takes ten seconds to appear, they go back and pick someone else.

Google also looks at the mobile version of your site first when deciding where you rank, so a site that works badly on a phone tends to be found less as well.

Our Approach

[01]
Mobile-first

We design for the small screen first, then let it grow for desktops, not the other way round.

[02]
Fast pages

Small images, little clutter, nothing that makes a phone wait on a weak signal.

[03]
Easy to tap

Big buttons, a phone number you can tap to call, forms that bring up the right keyboard.

One made-up business page drawn twice. First a single-column phone layout: call us, opening hours, menu, find us, enquiry. Then the same five pieces in the same order spread across a desktop window, so the page grows from the phone up.

What It Means in Practice

Opening hours and contact details where people look for them. A menu or price list you can read without zooming, instead of a photo of a printed one. Maps that open in the phone’s own map app. Booking and enquiry forms that are short enough to finish on a bus.

What It Costs

Every website we build is mobile-friendly as standard; there is no extra charge. A brochure website is £49 and yours to keep. If your current site is hard to use on a phone, we can rebuild it, or tell you what is wrong with it first.

Common Questions

How do I know if my site works on mobile?

Open it on your phone and try to find your phone number, your prices and a way to contact you. If any of that is a struggle, your customers are struggling too.

Do I need an app instead?

Rarely. A well-built website does most of what small businesses want an app for, and some of our sites can be added to a phone’s home screen like an app.

Can you fix my existing site rather than replace it?

Sometimes. If it is built well underneath, small changes may be enough. We’ll tell you which is cheaper.
